Summerstrand Hotel was the first client of Latita Community Soap Project and are still supplying their guests with lovely Latita glycerine hand-made soaps. In addition they have been assisting the soap project with sales and marketing. Thanks to the Summerstrand Hotel the soap ladies have been able to receive a small profit share every now and again. Ena Richards from Siya Sebenza has been working closely with the soap ladies from Latita Community Soap Project since late 2008. She has 16 years training experience with multinational companies and NGO’s, and has run her own Marketing Business for 7 years. Her focus areas has helped the ladies tremendously, which includes countering the following:
1. The Poverty Mindset – “I am poor, I will always be poor. I cannot change”
2. The Spirit of Entitlement – “I am owed…”
3. A lack of a “Standard of Excellence”
