Grade R Graduate and Toy Libraries
Through generous donations (via Traveller’s Philanthropy), 8 women from the communities we work with graduated from the Early Learning Centre with an Early Childhood Development (ECD) national teaching qualification. The latest graduate is Noluthando Maqutyana, who is now a Level 5 ECD teacher and employed at Isaac Booi Primary School.
Early childhood educators in schools we support attended 2 Toy Library workshops facilitated by Mary Clark from Active Learning Libraries South Africa (ALLSA). These workshops stress the importance of learning through play. In 2012 more workshops will be held, more specifically with parents of the schools to also try increase parental involvement in schools and in their children's lives.
