Furniture

Through the hard work and dedication of a Dutch tourist, Calabash Trust has imported more than 70 million Rand worth of good quality second hand school furniture from Holland. To date over 100 containers filled with school furniture has been delivered to the schools. Previously many children sat on paint tins and stones, but are the proud recipients of good quality desks and chairs. One can imagine the impact this has made on their learning environment.

This is all in an effort to improve facilities in schools, thus working towards building schools of excellence. The new and improved school furniture has also motivated teachers and learners though the creation of a better learning environment.

Reeds College shipped a container to Henry Nginza Primary School from the UK filled with books and furniture. This formed part of their annual visits to work in our poor PE and Addo schools (see Grassroots). The Reeds College students arrived in time to help unpack the container below.
