In South Africa, many people from previously disadvantaged communities lack the necessary skills to find proper employment or start their own businesses. There is a need to increase work skills, life skills, business skills and leadership capacity amongst those who have never had exposure to the city lifestyle.
Calabash Trust helps empower teachers, volunteers and unemployed parents by utilising other training organisations who specialises in the necessary fields to train people in. Unemployed people get trained in different skills which will enable them to manage their projects and enterprises.
Amongst the organisations we frequently use is the Early Learning Centre for teacher training to increase the level of capacity amongst pre-school teachers and for skilled teachers to become more employable. Siya Sebenza is frequently called upon for lifeskills and business training to develop leadership, improve teamwork and deliver excellent services. We are always searching for new training partners and ways to fund the training.
